There’s a rumble below the path, shooting through me like lightning. The images in the dust vanish.

Beyond the path, a huge serpentine being rises through the clouds. Its scales are a sharp monochrome, even against the vibrancy of the nebula. But its three eyes and horns far outshine their colour. Its heads are conjoined at the eyes - one of its mouths salivates as it notices me.

The serpent slinks towards me, sniffing me with its two snouts. A soundless noise echoes from its mouths, rippling through my body and leaving an icy chill.

It leaves, its long tail shifting the clouds ahead.

I’m already done with this. I want to turn around and run away. But my legs continue forward. I can't stop them. Please, if I am asleep, I want to wake up.
