I feel the word ‘nothing’ try to escape my mouth and cover it.
To say it would be lying - which I’m not doing to an enormous dragon.

(“I don’t care if that’s what you want me to say, ‘Aura’,’ I'm thinking. ‘I’m doing what I want this time.”)

I can feel it resisting, crushing my body with an unknown pressure, making it hard to breathe. I struggle against it, trying to think.
Fire bursts from my body, wrapping around the tree and burning it. The shadows flee.

In reality, this entire experience has been horrifying. The strange, ever-changing forms, the faces, this behemoth of a monster before me.

But there were also beautiful things - the breathtaking turquoise moon and the strange but kind girl who plaited my hair.

This has all felt like some weird dream. All besides one thing.

“I-If you mean the journey, t-then nothing much. I’m more scared of what’s within me, and where it’s trying to take me.”

My aura’s choking me, making it hard to speak. But it’s not stopping me.

“Not that I have any choice but to follow it, so what does it matter?”

A shockwave rushes up my spine.

“Freaking bring it on!”

I collapse.

I don’t know who that last part was aimed at.
