As my eyes adjust to the darkness, I begin to see plumes of clouds surrounding me, billowing into strange shapes and glowing deep, bold colours, like nebulae. My pale skin seems to glow against the celestial darkness.

The crystal dust in the air morphs in clumps into apple-trees, as if I’m still walking through the orchard at home.
I’m hesitant to stand up.

“W-What do you want from me? What is this place?”

No response.

“W-Whoever you are, take me home.”

A triangle of blue eyes stare into mine, almost out of nowhere. The twin pupils in each are somehow able to focus on me, seizing every part of my body. I find myself standing, my body lifted as if by strings.

‘The Human World was never your home.’

The eyes move away.
I now see a path, meandering in aqua and green along the deep indigo of the nebula. Ahead is a winged humanoid, with fins for arms and feathers falling around its head and waist. Strange markings cover its body, glowing in cyans, oranges and pinks. Its three eyes stare back at me, along with two smaller ones.

‘Come; we must go to Entropy.’

The voice is coming from the being, but it has no mouth.
‘Entropy’?
It turns and floats away. The next thing I know, I’m following behind it.
