Fae-folk

Magical beings of nature, and mystical guardians of ancient natural beauty.
The term ‘fae’ frequently refers to several beings seemingly born of the lands they call home.

Instinct Category: Beast
Average lifespan - varies; usually over 1000 yrs
Alignment: Neutral
Gender - 70% non-binary | 15% male | 15% female

Signature ability:
Fae-light - an odd energy that can be used for
raw offence, or to grow plants and crystals.

Behaviour and Interactions:
Fae live in large kingdoms of multiple sub-species, and are common in areas of complete wilderness. If a fallen city has rapidly become overgrown with vegetation and teeming with new life, it is often the work of fae. They are considered the guardians of nature's return, and not to be trifled with. The Fae will defend their territory fiercely, and pull cruel acts of trickery on those that mess with them. While they will chase mortals away, they provide lush habitats for other beasts. If a powerful Celestial occupies or has created the land they call home, they will follow the entity like royalty. It is not uncommon for powerful entities of nature to travel with swarms of fae as they spread their influence.

Subspecies

Faeries
The standard forms of fae. These tiny, furry or feathery humanoids can
even be found on their own or in isolated communities.

Wisps
Spirit-like being built from flora - like flowers, leaves or tree-roots - or crystals. Like regular faeries, they are not always part of a larger kingdom, but instead can be found floating around lush environments in isolated groups. Wind, solar energy and the power emanating from Celestials fuel their flight; they will often follow around nature beasts and Pandectres who enter their domain.

Water Nymphs
Gelatinous amphibian humanoids that hide in small bodies of water - where they appear almost invisible. They cover themselves in a bubble of water when they surface, which engulf anyone that attempt to touch them. They can even use it to flop across the land for a short time, but tendt to stick to the water.

Moth-Lights
Sentient lights that come in a variety of colours. They will light up crystal
caves and dense forests. Travellers can easily be misled or lulled into a trance by their lights.
Illusionist and Corruptor with similar powers like to bottle them for their own uses.

Shroomtail
Quadruped creatures with mushrooms sprouting from their bodies. They will
hide under the large mushroom-hats on their tails to surprise passers-by. Large ones will scoop creatures up with their tails and bounce them off for fun.

GeoToad
Sentient geodes with clusters growing from their back. They are brought to life
by Arch Faeries, who will use them like guard-dogs.

Arch-Feary
Large, humanoid faeries considered as monarchs over the others in their area. They are
the most-ferocious of the Fae, but are also easier to reason with.
